Hue, Viet Nam, August 16, 2006
Subject: 2006 Manifesto on Freedom and Democracy for Viet Nam.
Dear Dr. Willem Koetsier,
Thank you very much for Your precious support letter. It means a lot to us when Friends outside Viet Nam such as You and your Organization, recognize our movement to exert all our strength to realize a true democracy for our country, Viet Nam.
As you certainly know, the road to Democracy is a very difficult one. Although the present Communist Government in Viet Nam is certainly taking our Manifesto seriously, its response is only to suppress, threaten, interrogate, put under surveillance and arrest Peaceful Democratic Fighters, Members of Group 8406. Though we all hope for sincere and effective cooperation from the Vietnamese Communist Government, realistically we do not expect real progress to be made without strong support from Organizations outside Viet Nam such as yours and Internatitional Community.
We hope to count on You and your Organization for continued support.
Sincerely yours,
Interim Representatives of Bloc 8406
Consisting of 1,842 Peaceful Democratic Fighters
and tens of thousands of Members living inside Viet Nam :
Do Nam Hai, Engineer, Sai Gon.
Tran Anh Kim, Former Army Officer, Thai Binh.
Nguyen Van Ly, Catholic Priest, Hue. 69 Phan Dinh Phung, Hue, Viet Nam.
